about

meet Elizabeth.
the first girl I ever loved.

I started writing when I was two years old.

When I was thirteen, I met a girl named Elizabeth. She changed my life. Through her, I realized I was queer, and I realized that love was possible.

When she disappeared from my life six years later, I didn't know what to do with myself. So I wrote about her. I wrote about her, and nothing else, for years.

"em forgotten" is a story about her. It is a story about me. It is a story about growing up queer, and falling in love, and losing it all. It is a story about finding yourself.

how to read "em forgotten"

"em forgotten" is a piece of interactive fiction. The story is completely prompted by you, the reader. On the opening page of "em forgotten", you will have three images to choose from - each will be a slightly different starting point for you to read from. Many passages appear through time delay, so if text is not appearing, wait a few seconds - the story will continue on its own! Each time you encounter a piece of bold text, click the bold text to move on to the next part of the story. Images will continue to reoccur throughout the story - these are options that you must choose to move the story forward.

"em forgotten" was created with Twine. Learn more about Twine here.
